Hi, I’m Monica!

Owner of Monica Laake Beavers Design, LLC,  I have over 10 years of multimedia design and illustrative experience. A believer that creativity is the ultimate spice of life, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, focusing in Graphic Design & Drawing, from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) additionally earning my mouse ears from the Walt Disney World College Program.

I’ve gained invaluable experience working with and/or for various businesses, nonprofits, clients, and government municipalities, including: Fund for the Arts, Louisville Visual Art, City of Covington (KY), Kertis Creative, The Transit Authority of River City (TARC), The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, The Bridgeman Charitable Group, and more.

Alongside my design work, I have written and illustrated several children's books within the Big Brown Bunny series, including: The Big Brown Bunny That Can't/Won't Hop and The Big Brown Huh?; and the Sammy the Weasel series, including:  This is the End! (co-authored), The Elephant(s) in the Room (co-authored), and Good Luck Sammy (co-authored).

I currently serve on Sarabande Books’ Board of Directors (Secretary). Over the years, I have served on ELEVATOR Artist Resource’s Board of Directors, Sarabande Books’ Young Professionals Board (Executive Board + Membership Chair), and Local Kentucky Clubs’ Board of Directors.

In my free time, I can often be found outdoors with my dogs. I am a movie enthusiast and even had the opportunity to act as an extra alongside Robert Redford in the movie The Old Man and the Gun.
